Lapso:
Colaboration with clarinetist and composer
Jose Benito Meza,
native
of Valledupar, Colombia, Lapso began in 1999 in Bogota, Colombia, as
a contemporary improvisation duet and has performed in public venues
in Bogota and in Boston at the Jordan Hall. During the following
years both musicians had collaborated in an extensive search of the
rhythms of the atlantic coast of Colombia, writing numerous pieces
mixing jazz Colombian music and contemporary improvisation.
In 2008 Lapso was commissioned by
France-based artist Rebecca Whipple to
score the music for the short film "Steve Martin on the
Loose" which was premiered at the Philadelphia Film
Festival. Currently Lapso
is preparing a recording with all new
material.
